Section 508 Information

Through a mix of product innovations and integration with advanced technology, Sharp is dedicated to providing improved accessibility to its full line of office products and imaging solutions.

Section 508 Policy Statement

Through our corporate commitment to Sincerity and Creativity, Sharp is focused on today’s lifestyles by creating new products, satisfying new demands and realizing unimagined possibilities.

In keeping with our corporate credo, Sharp has a variety of document imaging products that are compliant with the requirements of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. Sharp is also striving to make all of its products, software and documentation more accessible by applying the principles and guidance of Section 508. Consistent with our corporate heritage of innovation, Sharp believes Section 508 represents an opportunity to design and manufacture products that are more versatile, functional and user-friendly.

Section 508 requires that "Electronic and Information Technology" (EIT) products, procured or used by government agencies, allow access to Federal employees and members of the public with disabilities that is comparable to the access available to non-disabled individuals. Sharp is helping government purchasers of EIT products meet their obligation by making available products that use the latest technologies and that are reliable, easy to use and Section 508 compliant.

Voluntary Product Accessibility Template® (VPAT®)

The Voluntary Product Accessibility Template, or VPAT, is a tool used to document a product's conformance with the accessibility standards under Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act.

The purpose of the VPAT is to assist Federal contracting officials and other buyers in making preliminary assessments regarding the availability of commercial "Electronic and Information Technology" products and services with features that support accessibility.
